Great experience

Christopher was very knowledgeable. He gave a lot of insight into the history of the city . We were able to see things we would’ve missed if we toured the city on our own.

If you’re wondering which SF tour to do this is the one! It’s wayy better than being in a bus all day, so you feel like you’re really immersed in the city. Our tour guide Christopher was wonderful and has a wealth of knowledge about SF. It’s a walking tour but we never felt tired or behind from the group. Definitely recommend!

Walking Tour with Maggie

This was such a GREAT tour. It was just the right amount of walking. We were able to see so much, thanks to Maggie!! She has 20+ years of experience living here and she pointed out a lot of landmarks and gave us the history on everything. We got to experience riding the cable cars and the public buses. She is so interesting, very friendly, and even gave us a little gift of fortune cookies at the end of our tour!! Better than being on a tour bus the whole day!!

Maggie Was Awesome!

This was a great tour! The walking was nicely broken up with riding on a cable car, a trolley, a bus, and the bay cruise. We had a nice lunch break on the Italian North Shore. Maggie has lived in San Francisco for 27 years, and knew shortcuts and places only known to those who live in the city. I'm not sure what my favorite part was, but walking down "the crookedest street in the world" was fun. The fortune cookies were the best I've ever tasted! I bought the famous Ghirardelli Hot Fudge Sundae, and it was amazing! Maggie told us the best places to sit on the trolley car and bay cruise to get pics. I felt like I was in a different country while in Chinatown; so cool! Walking gave me a whole different and better perspective of everything that I didn't get the day before during a bus tour I took. Maggie encouraged us to take pictures and took pictures of us so we didn't need to always do selfies. The day flew by and was a whole lot of fun!

The views from Lombard st. were amazing. I've visited San Francisco before, but this gave me more details of this great city

Dear James_O, We are so glad to read you enjoyed our San Francisco in a Day so much, especially since this was not your first time visiting this amazing city! Thank you for sharing this experience with us. We hope you will have the chance to join us again soon. Kind regards,

Great Walking Tour, See a Lot in 1 Day!

I read reviews for this tour prior to booking and saw that this was solely a walkign tour which I did not mind at all. The SF weather is usually pretty great, not too hot not too cold. Our tour group was pretty small and we were able to see a lot even though we were on foot most of the time. The cable car was also at the beginning of the tour but because of that we were able to get up some of the steeper hills without walking them. During our tour we stopped at a quite a number of sights as mentioned in the itinerary. The one stop skipped over was going inside Grace Cathedral due to COVID but we still had time to look around the building. For lunch there is a 1 hour break right between Chinatown and North Beach (Little Italy) so you can choose which neighborhood you'd like to have lunch in. By the time you get to Pier 39 at the end, you feel the day's walk and fortunately the tour ends with a beautiful Bay Cruise where you can sit for an hour and take in the gorgeous sights of the city from the water and sail under the Golden Gate Bridge. Definitely recommend if you're able to do this. There's one large section of hills that will need to be walked between North Beach and Lombard Street but overall it was doable for the average person. Plus, the tour guide is great at pacing to accomodate the entire group.

We cannot thank you enough for your thorough review! We are thrilled you understood it was a walking tour - we have tried to be a lot more clear so people aren't surprised. We hope that you visit us again and let us show you some more of beautiful San Francisco.

8 hours walking tour!!!
ALCIDES_P
, Aug 2021
Our guide Christopher was fantastic but this was not a good tour. Should be more clear when selling it!! It is a walking tour -8 hours walking San Francisco streets and hills!! Not all the points of interest listed as included where visited. All churches were closed; were not able to visit any Chinese temple; not seen the Golden Gate, not able to go to the chocolate factory and many other. So, don’t take this tour if you want to see more of San Francisco on an air conditioned bus and in a more easy, enjoyable way
icon Response from Host , Sep 2021
Hi Maria, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback, and sorry to hear you found the tour misleading. Walks do include the duration of each tour on our tour information and our San Francisco in a Day is indeed a full-on day of 8 hours as stated. Apologies that some of the sites were closed on the day you took this tour - you don't mention why but I suspect the weather may be why you didn't see the bridge? Please reach out to us directly at info@takewalks.com as we would like to discuss this with you further. Thank you.

Christopher Erin was a fantastic guide. We had a wonderful day learning about San Francisco. The hills were not too bad unless you wanted steep hills
icon Response from Host , Oct 2021
Thanks Melanie - yeah, we try to avoid all the steep hills in this rolling city! I mean, we do climb one fairly steep incline to get to Lombard Street (but we do think its worth it!) We are so happy you got to spend time with our guide and see the best of San Francisco. Come visit us again sometime!

Hi Odis, Apologies it has taken us so long to thank you. It has been a crazy year! But LeAnne is delighted with your feedback, as we all are at Walks. It means so much to us when you tell us we get it right .. and happy to say our tours in San Francisco and the rest of our destinations in the US and Europe are up and running again. Hope to see you soon.
